# Cursor, VS Code & More

> Connect the 9Pic AI MCP server to Cursor, VS Code, Gemini CLI, Meta Muse and any other app that supports remote MCP servers.

## Overview

Any AI app that supports **remote MCP servers with sign-in** can connect to 9Pic AI. This page covers the most common ones. If your app is not listed, use the [connection details](#connection-details) at the bottom.

> [!NOTE]
>
> **Server address:** `https://mcp.9pic.ai/mcp`

## Set Up Your App

**Cursor**

**One click:** [Add 9Pic AI to Cursor](cursor://anysphere.cursor-deeplink/mcp/install?name=9pic-ai\&config=eyJ1cmwiOiJodHRwczovL21jcC45cGljLmFpL21jcCJ9)

**Or by hand:** add this to `~/.cursor/mcp.json` (all projects) or `.cursor/mcp.json` (one project):

```json mcp.json theme={null}
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "9pic-ai": {
      "url": "https://mcp.9pic.ai/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

Then open **Cursor Settings**, find **9pic-ai** in the MCP section and click to sign in. Your browser opens the 9Pic sign-in page.

**VS Code**

VS Code uses MCP servers in GitHub Copilot Chat agent mode.

**One click:** [Add 9Pic AI to VS Code](vscode:mcp/install?%7B%22name%22%3A%229pic-ai%22%2C%22type%22%3A%22http%22%2C%22url%22%3A%22https%3A%2F%2Fmcp.9pic.ai%2Fmcp%22%7D)

**Or by hand:** run **MCP: Add Server** from the Command Palette, choose **HTTP**, and enter `https://mcp.9pic.ai/mcp`. Or add this to `.vscode/mcp.json`:

```json .vscode/mcp.json theme={null}
{
  "servers": {
    "9pic-ai": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://mcp.9pic.ai/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

VS Code asks you to sign in the first time it starts the server. Note that VS Code uses `servers`, not `mcpServers`.

**Gemini CLI**

Add this to `~/.gemini/settings.json`. Use `httpUrl`, not `url`:

```json settings.json theme={null}
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "9pic-ai": {
      "httpUrl": "https://mcp.9pic.ai/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

Start Gemini CLI and run `/mcp auth 9pic-ai` to sign in through your browser.

**Meta Muse**

Send Muse a message like this on the web, the mobile app or WhatsApp:

```text theme={null}
Create a custom connector.
Name: 9Pic AI
Transport: remote streamable HTTP
URL: https://mcp.9pic.ai/mcp
Auth: OAuth
```

When Muse opens the 9Pic sign-in page, sign in and approve access. If your Muse version shows a **Connectors** page in Settings, you can add the same address there instead. Muse is available in a limited set of countries.

**Other apps**

In your app's MCP or connector settings, add a **remote** server:

* **Type / transport:** Streamable HTTP (sometimes shown as `http`)
* **URL:** `https://mcp.9pic.ai/mcp`
* **Authentication:** OAuth, with no client ID or secret

For an app that only runs local MCP servers, the community `mcp-remote` bridge can connect it to a remote server. Use its latest version:

```json theme={null}
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "9pic-ai": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "mcp-remote@latest", "https://mcp.9pic.ai/mcp"]
    }
  }
}
```

After you sign in, ask *"List my 9Pic AI organisations"* to check the connection.

## Connection Details

Use these details for any MCP-compatible app or when you build your own MCP client.

| Detail | Value |
| :- | :- |
| Server URL | `https://mcp.9pic.ai/mcp` |
| Transport | Streamable HTTP, stateless, JSON responses. Only `POST` is supported. |
| Authentication | OAuth 2.1 with PKCE (S256). Discovered from the `WWW-Authenticate` challenge on the first request. |
| Resource metadata | `https://mcp.9pic.ai/.well-known/oauth-protected-resource/mcp` |
| Client registration | Client ID Metadata Documents. Dynamic client registration is not offered. |
| Scopes | `events:read`, `events:write`, `analytics:read`, plus `offline_access` to stay signed in |
| API keys | Not supported. Developer Zone API keys are for the [9Pic API](https://docs.9pic.ai/api-reference.md) only. |

> [!WARNING]
>
> Only add `https://mcp.9pic.ai/mcp`. Never paste your 9Pic password into a chat or a configuration file. Sign in only on the 9Pic sign-in page your app opens.

## Common Questions

> **My app says it could not register a client.**
>
> 9Pic AI accepts apps that identify themselves with a client metadata document, which most current MCP apps do. If your app only supports dynamic client registration, contact [support@9pic.ai](mailto:support@9pic.ai) with the app name and version.

> **Opening the address in a browser shows an error.**
>
> That is expected. The address is for AI apps, not browsers, and it only accepts requests from an MCP app.

> **Can I use the 9Pic API key instead of signing in?**
>
> No. The MCP server only accepts sign-in. For code that runs without a person, use the [9Pic API](https://docs.9pic.ai/api-reference.md) with a Developer Zone key.
