# Claude and Claude Code

> Add the 9Pic AI MCP server to Claude on the web, desktop and mobile, or to Claude Code in your terminal.

## Overview

Add 9Pic AI to Claude as a **custom connector**, or to **Claude Code** with one command. After you sign in, Claude can read your events, import photos from a shared folder, preview processing credits and publish galleries when you ask.

> [!NOTE]
>
> **Server address:** `https://mcp.9pic.ai/mcp`

## Claude on the Web, Desktop and Mobile

Custom connectors are available on every Claude plan. The Free plan allows one custom connector. A connector you add on the web also appears in the Claude desktop and mobile apps.

**1. Open connector settings**

In Claude, open **Customize**, then **Connectors**.

**2. Add a custom connector**

Click **Add** and choose to add a custom connector. Name it **9Pic AI** and paste `https://mcp.9pic.ai/mcp` as the remote server address.

**3. Keep the default sign-in options**

Leave the advanced OAuth client fields empty. 9Pic AI signs you in without a client ID or secret.

**4. Connect and sign in**

Click **Add**, then **Connect**. Sign in with your 9Pic dashboard account and approve the access request.

**5. Turn it on in a chat**

In a new chat, open the **+** menu, choose **Connectors** and make sure **9Pic AI** is switched on. Then ask *"List my 9Pic AI organisations."*

> [!TIP]
>
> On Claude Team and Enterprise plans, an owner adds the connector once in the organisation's connector settings. Each member then clicks **Connect** and signs in with their own 9Pic account, so everyone keeps their own permissions.

## Claude Code

Claude Code connects to remote MCP servers over HTTP. In your terminal:

```bash theme={null}
claude mcp add --transport http 9pic-ai https://mcp.9pic.ai/mcp
```

Add `--scope user` to make 9Pic AI available in every project, not only the current folder.

**1. Start Claude Code**

Run `claude` in your project folder.

**2. Sign in**

Type `/mcp`, select **9pic-ai** and choose to authenticate. Your browser opens the 9Pic sign-in page. Approve the request and return to the terminal.

**3. Check the connection**

Ask *"List my 9Pic AI organisations."* Claude Code asks before it runs each 9Pic AI tool unless you allow it.

To share the server with your team through the project, add it to a `.mcp.json` file at the project root. Each person still signs in with their own account:

```json .mcp.json theme={null}
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "9pic-ai": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://mcp.9pic.ai/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

## Prompts to Try

* *"Show the events in this organisation and which ones are still in draft."*
* *"What is the photo processing status for the city marathon?"*
* *"Add this Google Drive folder as a photo source for Sunday's 10K and import the photos."*
* *"Preview processing 500 photos and tell me the credit cost."*
* *"Write a short race-day report with gallery engagement for every event this month."*

## Disconnect

* **Claude:** open **Customize**, then **Connectors**, and disconnect or remove 9Pic AI.
* **Claude Code:** run `claude mcp remove 9pic-ai`.

## Common Questions

> **Do I need a paid Claude plan?**
>
> No. Claude's Free plan allows one custom connector. Your 9Pic plan decides which features and how many credits you can use.

> **Claude asks for a client ID or secret.**
>
> Leave those fields empty. If Claude cannot connect without them, see [Fix Connection Issues](https://docs.9pic.ai/dashboard-guide/ai-assistants/troubleshooting.md).

> **What is the difference between MCP and 9Pic Agent Skills?**
>
> The MCP server lets Claude operate your 9Pic account. [Agent Skills](https://docs.9pic.ai/agent-skills.md) teach Claude Code how to write code against the 9Pic API when you build your own gallery or photo search. Developers often use both.

> **My sign-in expired.**
>
> Reconnect 9Pic AI from **Connectors** in Claude, or run `/mcp` again in Claude Code and sign in.
