# ChatGPT and Codex

> Install the 9Pic AI plugin in ChatGPT, or add the 9Pic AI MCP server to OpenAI Codex.

## Overview

9Pic AI is published in the **ChatGPT plugin directory**. Install it once and ChatGPT can list your events, import photos, preview processing credits and publish galleries from the chat. You do not need the server address for ChatGPT.

Developers using **OpenAI Codex** can add the same 9Pic AI MCP server to the Codex CLI or IDE extension.

> [!NOTE]
>
> You need a ChatGPT account and a 9Pic account. The plugin works on every 9Pic plan, including Trial.

## Install the ChatGPT Plugin

**1. Open the 9Pic AI listing**

Open [9Pic AI in ChatGPT](https://chatgpt.com/plugins/plugin_asdk_app_6ac23532dd8c8191a44fc3f42b4e9d3e), or search for **9Pic AI** in the ChatGPT plugin directory.

**2. Connect**

Choose to connect the plugin. ChatGPT opens the 9Pic sign-in page.

**3. Sign in and approve**

Log in with the account you use at [admin.9pic.ai](https://admin.9pic.ai) and approve the access request. You return to ChatGPT.

**4. Try it**

In a new chat, ask *"List my 9Pic AI organisations."* If you belong to several organisations, tell ChatGPT which one to use before you ask for a change.

> [!TIP]
>
> On ChatGPT Business, Enterprise and Edu workspaces, an admin may need to allow the 9Pic AI plugin before members can connect it.

### Prompts to Try

* *"List my 9Pic AI organisations."*
* *"Show my events in this organisation."*
* *"What is the photo processing status for this event?"*
* *"Preview processing these photos and show the credit usage."*

## Add 9Pic AI to Codex

Codex connects to the 9Pic AI MCP server directly and signs you in through your browser.

**Codex CLI**

Add the server, then sign in:

```bash theme={null}
codex mcp add 9pic-ai --url https://mcp.9pic.ai/mcp
codex mcp login 9pic-ai
```

Your browser opens the 9Pic sign-in page. After you approve, run `codex mcp list` to check that `9pic-ai` is connected.

You can also add the server to `~/.codex/config.toml`:

```toml theme={null}
[mcp_servers.9pic-ai]
url = "https://mcp.9pic.ai/mcp"
```

**Codex IDE extension**

1. Open the gear menu and choose **MCP servers**.
2. Choose **Add server**, enter the name `9pic-ai`, select **Streamable HTTP** and enter `https://mcp.9pic.ai/mcp`.
3. Save, then choose **Restart extension**.
4. Choose **Authenticate** and sign in with your 9Pic account.

## Disconnect

* **ChatGPT:** disconnect 9Pic AI from the plugins or apps section of ChatGPT settings.
* **Codex CLI:** run `codex mcp logout 9pic-ai`, or `codex mcp remove 9pic-ai` to remove it completely.

## Common Questions

> **Do I need ChatGPT developer mode?**
>
> No. 9Pic AI is a published plugin, so you install it from the directory like any other plugin.

> **Is my 9Pic password shared with ChatGPT?**
>
> No. You sign in on the 9Pic page, and ChatGPT receives limited access to act for you. ChatGPT never sees your password.

> **Can ChatGPT buy credits or change my plan?**
>
> No. The plugin uses your existing account and never starts a purchase. Credits and plans stay in the dashboard.

> **ChatGPT says my connection expired.**
>
> Reconnect 9Pic AI from ChatGPT settings and sign in again. See [Fix Connection Issues](https://docs.9pic.ai/dashboard-guide/ai-assistants/troubleshooting.md).
